Seems like failed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) Upendra Kushwaha is finally giving up on his dreams of becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar when he dissolved his party on Sunday and merged with his former party led by Janata Dal – U led by none other than his bête noire Nitish Kumar.

Eight years after he walked out of the JD-U, Kushwaha went back to Nitish Kumar indicating he was abandoning the goal of replacing him that he had nurtured for a very long time leading him to the path of criticizing the Chief Minister at every step.

To keep him in good humor and to assuage his hurt ego, the JD-U was quick to make him the party’s Parliamentary Board Chairperson.

Speaking at a press conference in Patna, the former RLSP leader justified his latest political maneuvering saying the current situation in the country and Bihar required coming together of all ‘like-minded’ leaders.

Kushwaha also addressed Nitish Kumar as his ‘elder brother’ to reciprocate the welcome accorded to him by the JD-U..

He, however, did not explain what he meant by ‘current situation’ that led him to merge his party with the JD-U.

The former Union Minister of Education for State has a long history of joining and walking out of parties as mandated by his political convenience and expediency.

How long this relationship will last is anyone's guess but if history is any indication, perhaps a year or two.
