New Delhi: A day after his father and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav was interrogated by the CBI for nearly seven hours in connection with the 'Land for Railway Contracts', the nation's apex investigative agency on Friday grilled former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejaswi Yadav who is a multi-millionaire without ever holding any job in his life or owning any legitimate business.
The junior Yadav, who is said to take over the party leadership from his father in an upcoming party election, was questioned for more than six hours during which he was asked to explain how he acquired all the properties that are in his name and whether he knew his father and mother (former Chief Minister Rabri Devi) had engaged in any unlawful activity.
The former Deputy Chief Minister was also asked to explain details about his many 'businesses', particularly the Delight Marketing, that was used as a shell company to evade financial dealings related to property acquisitions.
Like his father, Tejaswi Yadav, after coming out of the interrogation, accused the NDA of going on a witch-hunt to destroy him and his family.
The RJD chief is accused of abusing his position as the Union Railways Minister to grant illegal favors to many in exchange for high value properties in Patna and other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the Income Tax department on Friday attached three properties belonging to Rabri Devi and her daughter Hema Yadav for a period of 90 days. The properties are located in Danapur and Phulwari Sharif.
The future of the properties depends on the result of the ongoing investigation by the office of Enforcement Directorate and the CBI in Delhi.
One of the properties in Phulwari Sharif was 'donated' by Lalu Prasad Yadav's servant Lallan Chowdhary in 2014.
It is alleged that the RJD chief or one of his 'agents' paid cash to Chowdhary to purchase 2.5 decimal property in Phulwari Sharif in his name from one Vishnu Deo for a price of Rs. 30 lakh only later to 'donate' it to Rabri Devi.
The same Chowdhary also bought 7.5 decimal land from one Hridyanand Chowdhary, an STF jawan in Danapur, for a price tag of Rs. 62 lakh only later to 'donate' to Lalu and Rabri's daughter Hema Yadav, it is alleged.
