Patna: Activists with allegiance to the All India Students' Federation (AISF) in Patna on Saturday took out a victory rally after two candidates from Patna Women's College, both sponsored by the AISF, were elected unopposed to the post of Council in the Patna University Students' Union (PUSU) election.
The rally began from B N College and culminated just few hundred yards from it at the Kargil Chowk where the winners danced in joy and applied 'gulal' on each other to celebrate the victories of Sapna Kumar and Pragati Prakash who were declared winners on Saturday after no one came out to oppose them.
AISF Vice President hopeful Anushka Arya, speaking on the occasion, congratulated the winners and wished them luck in the new PU Students' Union.
Deepshikha Singh, a student leader from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi also hailed the victories of Sapna and Pragati saying by deciding to choose AISF instead of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the two girls sent a strong signal to those who did not believe in secularism.
A number of candidates for the PUSU election backed by the AISF were present on the occasion.
