Patna: Setting aside the demise of his own political career at the age of 69 following his convictions in a series of corruption cases related to the multi-crore rupees fodder scam that is likely to keep him in prison for the rest of his life, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Thursday, declared the 'end of the political career' of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the backdrop of a series of communal flare-ups in the state in the last few days.
Yadav, who complained of chest pain and other physical ailments forcing the prison officials to shift him from his jail cell to a much-comfortable hospital room only later to be referred to a Delhi hospital, shortly after arriving at the nation's capital, fired salvo at the Chief Minister saying Nitish Kumar was complicit in the communal uprising in Bihar since he was an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the party responsible for all communal flare-ups in the country.
"Nitish Kumar is now finished. BJP has set the whole Bihar on fire," Yadav, forgetting his heart problem and high blood pressure for a few minutes, told the reporters at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
As reported, communal clashes broke out in Nalanda, Jamui, Samastipur, and Aurangabad during the Ramanavami procession earlier this week. Opposition has blamed the BJP, and by extension the Janata Dal – U, of spreading communal hatred to gin up Hindu sentiments in the run up of the next year's General Election.
Meanwhile, JD-U leaders in Patna accused Yadav of feigning sickness to get out of the jail.
"The RJD chief is a professional jail bird and knows how to work the system. He realizes he is never coming out of the jail so he hatched this sickness scheme to spend his time in a top medical center where he will have all the luxury and amenities that are not available in the jail cell," said a party spokesperson
