Patna: Many areas in Patna district including Maner and Digha on Friday were under flood watch after Ban Sagar Dam in Madhya Pradesh dumped more than 8 lakh cusecs of water in the Sone river making both Sone and Ganga water level flowing above or near the danger level.

Several villages in Maner were filled with flood water as residents fled their homes with their belongings to seek shelter on higher ground. Alarmed by the rapid speed the water level was rising, district administration began preparation to deal with the worst.

The Nitish government issued a directive to put senior officials on alert along with alerting the State Disaster Response Force ordering them to be ready for any emergency situation and to make sure flood victims were moved to dryer, safer places without any casualty.
