Speaking at a function at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Tuesday, Kumar said that an appropriate spot for the proposed statue of the former Prime Minister would soon be chosen and the statue would be unveiled with great pomp and show in reverence to the man who was the leader of all Indians and not just the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"The political role that Atal Ji played in shaping the nation can never be forgotten. The way he strived to maintain the unity of the nation after becoming the Prime Minister is highly commendable and he will forever be known for that," Kumar said.
The Chief Minister, recalling his own personal relationship with the former Prime Minister, said that he personally had a lot of respect for the man under whose leadership he had the honor to serve the nation under different capacity including Railway Minister, Agriculture Minister, and Land Transport Minister.
"He always bestowed me with his blessings that I can never forget. He will also be known as the man who lived up to the expectations as the leader of an alliance by never wavering from the coalition dharma," he said.
Recalling the outpouring of grief and condolences over the passing away of the man who was also known for his statesmanship and oratory skills, Kumar said that he had not seen such flow of affection and love towards a politician in a very long time.
"Regardless of which party you belonged, which religion you subscribed to, the love for Atal Ji was something I had not seen before," Kumar said.
Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, and a number of both Janata Dal – U and BJP leaders were present on the occasion.
