Patna: With the festival of Diwali already in the rearview mirror, Patna’ites are now gearing up for Bihar’s most revered festival Chhath that begins on October 31 with Nahai-Khai.

Throughout the state capital, roadside vendors selling Chhath-related items like clay oven (chulha), mango tree wood, daura, soop, lamps, clay water pots, kalash and other objects have popped up to cater to the needs of the families where at least one person is observing Chhath under its very rigorous conditions.

Some areas in Patna like Bans Ghat, Raja Bazaar, Kurji, GPO Roundabout, Kankarbagh, Thakur Bari Road, Kanti Factory Road, Bakerganj, R-Block, and Dinkar Roundabout were buzzing with vendors selling from a specific item like clay oven to a one-stop shop for all articles associated with the festival.

While clay ovens are selling anywhere from Rs. 60 to Rs. 100, five kilogram of mango woods would cost of roughly about Rs. 125. A pair of Soop, a key item in the puja, meanwhile, is selling for about Rs. 150. Daura, on the other hand, could make a dent in one’s pocket by about Rs. 200.
