Patna: Emboldened criminals in Patna shot and killed a business owner in Jakkanpur on Monday morning once again contradicting the claims of the state government of crime rate going down in the Nitish administration.
72-year old Harihar Prasad, the owner of S K Textiles near Chandpur Bela Do Pulwa was sitting at his store when a little before 11:00 am two men walked into his shop and allegedly demanded money from him.
As Prasad tried to talk to the criminals, one of them shot him on his shoulder. An employee of the store who was identified as Ranvijay Singh said that when he approached the criminals, they threatened to kill him too.
The perpetrators then escaped from the crime scene by firing a few rounds in the air.
Prasad was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police have recovered two spent cartridges and a live one from the crime scene.
Jitendra Kumar, City Superintendent of Police – East, said that the police have a few clues in the case is following them to get to the criminals.
