Patna: Politicians and government officials in Patna on Wednesday paid tearful tribute to Sunil Kumar, the Indian Army soldier who was one of the 20 jawans killed in a military assault by China in Ladakh last Monday night.

Martyr Sunil's body arrived at the Patna Airport by a special aircraft at 5:50 pm where it was received by his elder brother Anil Kumar, family members and neighbors besides district administration and top leaders of Bihar.

Among those paying floral homage to the brave jawan were Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Ram Kripal Yadav, Nand Kishore Yadav, Sanjay Agrawal, Sanjeev Chaurasia, Janata Dal-U leader Shravan Kumar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders Tejaswi Yadav and Jagadanand Singh, and Congress state president Madan Mohan Jha.

Aggrieved family members said martyr Sunil was posted in Ladakh for the last two and a half years. Just two days before the Chinese assault, he had called home in Bihta and had talked to his wife for about two minutes.

Besides his wife, Sunil leaves behind a 12-year old daughter, and two sons aged 10 and 8.
