Expectations were high for administrative reforms from the young Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav. However, it seems he has not been nurtured properly as he has failed in everything from reining in sand mafia to organizing Saifai Mahotsava.

Singh's high-handedness in dealing with the case involving Durga Shakti Nagpal, an IAS officer, exposed his hollowness while pre-planned Muzaffarabad riot also is a burning example of his administrative failure. The riots could have been stopped earlier but he failed to do so.

Death of 32 children from pneumonia and the students' strike over bungling by service commission is also indicative of his administrative failure and rampant corruption in the state.

The reasons for the recent Saifai celebration, matched by the bar-like dance activities of Mumbai by Bollywood stars, has also been not explained adequately. At least Madhuri Dixit, who is one of the most respected ladies and the wife of a prominent cardiologist, should not have participated in the event. Dabang hero Salman Khan has also lost his credibility by participating in the ceremony.

To save their skins from further criticism, these stars have donated their earned money to charity organizations of their likings. However, can this wash off their dirt? No, never!

I believe when Yadav and his cabinet ministers, who are on a pleasure trip to foreign nations when reformation is required in the state, will find a different scenario in the state upon their return. I was pained to hear Yadav asking for apology from the media for its coverage of the Saifai Mahotsav. It indicates his arrogance.

The activities of Yadav, his family, the administration, and the cabinet ministers, are quite condemnable and the loss of Rs. 100 crore from the state coffers must be compensated by them.
